Annika Sorenstam made a birdie putt of about 27 feet on the last hole Sunday to win the Scandinavian TPC by one stroke over Natalie Gulbis.
Sorenstam, the tournament host, closed with a par-72 for a total of 4-under 284 at the Barseback course, second in length to the U.S. Open on the women's tour. It was the 75th win of her career and seventh this year.
Sweden's Carin Koch (71) and France's Patricia Meunier-Lebouc (71) and Gwladys Nocera (74) shared third place at 288. Norway's Suzann Pettersen, who trailed Sorenstam by a stroke after three rounds, had a 76 for a 289.
"It was a wonderful finish," said Sorenstam, who was hugged by her parents after the victory. "It wasn't the world's best tee shot, but then I got the ball on the green and rolled in the putt."
Gulbis, a 22-year-old American, was seeking her first pro title.
"I birdied three of the last five holes and I was hoping to have my first playoff," she said. "Who better to have it against than Annika."
Sorenstam won the year's first two majors _ the Nabisco and LPGA Championships _ and six of her first eight events. But the Swede had a disappointing U.S. Open and was fifth at the British Open a week ago.
"We had it all today," she said. "We had tough conditions, we had some drama coming down the 18th, some birdies. And to roll in a putt and win your own tournament, it doesn't get much better than that."
Sorenstam and Gulbis were at 3 under entering the final hole, a par 4 rated the toughest on the course. Gulbis, who birdied three straight holes from the 14th to move into contention, missed a birdie putt. Sorenstam drove right into the trees.
"I was lucky," Sorenstam said. "I was able to take a full back swing. I had an 8-iron, a perfect club, the ball went through the trees and on to the green. It was one of those shots that I probably will never forget."
